B&WSSC Efforts in CSR Space

Skilling is an important component of CSR under which organizations prefer to make a social impact and an empowered society by way of imparting vocational education, creating respectable and sustainable livelihoods , especially for communities which are under the marginal section of society and need upliftment to come to the basic level of sustenance.

B&WSSC has undertaken various CSR projects as an implementation partner and has worked with PSU’s, Private and Government organizations – NTPC, NHPC, IOCL, IGL, Ambuja Cement, Collective Good Foundation to execute skilling initiatives under their respective CSR provisions, to create a positive impact in the society by making vocational education accessible to all who are in need of a respectable and sustainable livelihood and social inclusion.

Why to choose Beauty and Wellness sector to execute skill development projects under CSR?

  • Beauty & Wellness industry is a sector with ever-growing employment opportunities not just across our country but in the global arena too. Diverse sub-sectors exist in the industry making it aspirational and career oriented for the beneficiaries.
  • Beauty & Wellness is one such industry which is booming with tremendous potential for growth not only in urban regions but semi-urban and rural regions as well. According to the skill gap study done by KPMG, the Beauty and Wellness industry in India is growing at a CAGR of 18.6% and is considered to be a huge employment generator with almost all its sub-sectors growing at a fast pace.
  • Beauty & Wellness would create 7 million jobs in India, according to Hindu Business Line by 2025.
  • Career prospects include not just wage employment but other opportunities as well such as freelancing, entrepreneurship and association with platform aggregators, thus escalating the gig economy.
  • The sector offers parallel mobility in other sectors such as tourism, hospitality, media, aviation, retail, social media etc., therefore enhancing the employment opportunities for the trainees.

Recent completed project in CSR

B&WSSC in its endeavour to empower women and youth in the field of beauty and wellness launched a ‘Free Certificate Course in Entrepreneurial Skills for budding Women Entrepreneurs’, under the CSR initiative with a target to train 4000 women across India. The core objective of the program was to create a sustainable livelihood impact for aspiring women entrepreneurs by enhancing understanding on the key skills such as Financial Literacy, Digital Literacy, Industry Specific Skills and Soft Skills. These are the aspects that are required for a business to be successful, particularly in this age of technology advancement

Ongoing Project – Returnable Grant

B&WSSC is executing a project under CSR that revolves around Returnable Grant. Returnable Grant (RG) is an innovative social finance instrument where a beneficiary receives a small loan in order to meet pressing business needs and in order to upgrade/ modernize to stay competitive. B&WSSC’s Returnable Grant project aims to incubate entrepreneurship in women in the area of beauty and wellness by the way of providing a small grant in form of starter kit and basic training to them, thereby creating opportunities for them to earn respectable livelihood. This project targets women who are in the age group of 16 to 50, who are skilful and desired to be independent.
