The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) works to create and sustain an environment conducive to the development of India, partnering industry, Government and civil society, through advisory and consultative processes.
CII is a non-government, not-for-profit, industry-led and industry-managed organization, playing a proactive role in India’s development process. Founded in 1895, India’s premier business association has over 7900 members, from the private as well as public sectors, including SMEs and MNCs, and an indirect membership of over 200,000 enterprises from around 240 national and regional sectoral industry bodies.
CII charts change by working closely with Government on policy issues, interfacing with thought leaders, and enhancing efficiency, competitiveness and business opportunities for industry through a range of specialized services and strategic global linkages. The National Skill Development Corporation India (NSDC) is a one of its kind, Public Private Partnership in India. It aims to promote skill development by catalysing creation of large, quality, for-profit vocational institutions. It provides funding to build scalable, for-profit vocational training initiatives. Its mandate is also to enable support systems such as quality assurance, information systems and train the trainer academies either directly or through partnerships.
NSDC was set up as part of a National Skill Development Mission to fulfil the growing need in India for skilled manpower across sectors and narrow the existing gap between the demand and supply of skills.

National Skill Development Agency (NSDA) is an autonomous body under Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) that anchors the National Skill Qualifications Framework (NSQF) and allied quality assurance mechanisms for synergizing skill initiatives in the country.
The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Govt. of India was set up on 9 November 2014 to coordinate all skill development efforts across the country. Industrial Training Institute and Apprenticeship and other skill development responsibilities were transferred from the Ministry of Labour and Employment to this newly established Ministry on 16 April 2015. It aims to remove disconnect between demand and supply of skilled manpower, to build the new skills and innovative thinking not only for existing jobs but also jobs that are to be created.
MSDE’s policy orientation for skill development is based on the following premises viz: coordination, private sector participation, entrepreneurship linkages, equity etc. The first premise clarifies MSDE’s role which would be to steer, coordinate and converge skill development programmes. The second pertains to catalysing private sector participation in the skill development sector through Public Private Partnerships and scaling up industry linkages with vocational training institutes. Skilling and entrepreneurship go hand in hand. Skill training initiatives need to create a pool of job seekers and job creators, to propel economic growth.
